Who We Are
Pathways to Higher Education is a social involvement program of the Ateneo de Manila University under its fifth Loyola School–the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD) and the Philippine chapter of Aiducation International. We identify high-potential but financially underprivileged senior high school students and nurture them into ethical and discerning young leaders committed to excellence and service to society.
Pathways equips them with the necessary academic skills and confidence to access quality higher education in reputable universities in Luzon. Students also undergo values and leadership formation to help them discover their life’s purpose and realize their potential to become positive agents of change.
How We Do It
Through our 3Cs approach, we hope to nurture our participants into becoming the servant leaders they were meant to be.
Calling: College and Career Readiness
Aside from school fees, students are challenged with choosing which school and course to take. We help them take this big step with their families while considering their finances and their individual strengths and interests.
Our students also learn invaluable skills like project management, the entrepreneur mindset, and design thinking with the help of our academy partners. They are also mentored by professionals in various fields who guide them in their professional development.
Character: Molding Servant Leaders
At the heart of our work is our belief in discernment and the values of integrity, service to society, and commitment to excellence. Students undergo key formative experiences that help them discover their life’s purpose and motivate them to realize their potential to be positive agents of change in society.
In doing so, we hope for a future with leaders from the grassroots who are guided by their morals and a strong sense of service.
Community: Safe and Open Space for Growth
Being part of a greater community of students from similar backgrounds fosters a sense of belonging and support that has helped our scholars through personal and academic challenges.
In a 2019 study by the Pambansang Samahan ng Sikolohiyang Pilipino (PSSP), Pathways alumni cited the importance of a sense of community in their growth as leaders. The support propelled them into heights they would only have considered with inspiration and motivation from their peers.
